Winter Animals

Tape resist snowflakes

Playing with magnatiles on the light table.

Migrating around the classroom looking
for warmer weather.
Learning The Pledge of Allegiance.

Gluing V's onto paper to represent
migrating birds.

Puppet play...watch out for the claw!
Drawing pictures of themselves in winter clothes.

Snack helper.
Writing letter V.

Looking through the classroom family album.
Working on the student of the day drawings.
This is a guided drawing.  We go step-by-step together,
and draw a friend. We start with the circle head,
rectangle body, etc... They are asked to use the same
colors as the person drawn.  It's a work in progress.

Our bear hunt art.
This fine motor activity involved dot markers and stickers.
There was deep water, swirling snow, a dark cave, etc...

This STEAM activity was to help the bears cross the river
using blocks and a fabric "river."
Sponge painting the edge of a bear stencil.

In the tent bear cave...

We went on a winter animal scavenger hunt.
I read them clues about the animal we are looking for, and if it
hibernated, migrated, or adapted.  Then, I read them the clue
where they could find it.  The end result was the scary bear
in the bear cave.

She found the migrating moose!

How can creatures endure such frigid water temperatures?
Blubber!  They were able to get an idea about how body fat protects
polar bears from freezing in the water.

Drawing pictures of their favorite winter animal.
They discussed what it does for the winter.

Letter bingo.
Making their polar bear masks.
