Valentine's Day

Creating homemade Valentine's
Day hearts.

Heart Math
After rolling the dice, they would add the
number to one side of the heart.  Roll again, and
add that number to the other side.
Then, write the numbers and add together.

Sight word practice.
They matched the clothes pin letter
to the letters on the craft stick.

The sensory bin had hidden
miniature hearts in the paper grass.
They used tweezers to "fish" them out.

Colored Hearts little reader.
(Color word and reading practice)

The family album is a popular book
to read.  :) They love finding their family page.
Reading together.

This was an activity about kind / unkind behavior.
The heart was whole but slowly broken through the story by
unkind words/actions.
However, with kindness and love, the heart
was made whole again. Our friends had some
awesome ideas to help others feel happy,
and how to be a good friend.

Sharing her weekend with Mr. Frog.

Love Bug group picture.

Fizzy hearts.
They watched the hearts fizz when they
dropped vinegar onto the hearts.

Decorating chocolate covered pretzels.
Thank you to the mom's who made sure
this station went smooth.  They had to keep
a close eye on the candy tray. The
spoons waiting in the sprinkles was
an irresistible temptation to bypass the pretzel,
and go the mouth of our young friends.

I did not get a good picture of the
delightful fruit kabobs Mrs.Ashley M. made.
So a special thank you for always making sure
our little friends have a healthy alternative to our sweets.
(The cantaloupe hearts were my favorite!)

With tweezers they picked up
candy hearts and tried to get the number of candy hearts
into the corresponding cup using different
types of tweezers.
Which tweezers worked best / not so good?
(Thank you to the dad for manning this station.)

Passing out Valentine's Day cards.

Heart Hopscotch.

Making their love bug hats.Thank you to the moms keeping this
organized chaos in good working order.
Our friends were able to create hats with stickers,
stamps, washi tape, and ribbons.

Sharing their boxes they created.
We enjoyed hearing the methods they used
to decorate.  They were proud of their boxes.
